My name is Kathy Velgersdyk and I teach grades 3, 4, and 5. My husband Loren and I live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and we have 5 children ages 23 to 11. I was raised in Sioux Center, Iowa, and received my education at Sioux Center Christian, Western Christian, and Dordt College. After receiving my teaching degree, I taught at the Christian schools in Sioux Center and Ontario, California. Following that I taught our own children at home for several years. The Lord has now led me to be a part of the staff at Hills Christian School.
I love the family atmosphere that Hills Christian provides. Whether you are a teacher, student, or parent, you share in the work that makes HCS the special school that it is. I enjoy the unique opportunities I have to work closely with my students because of our small class size. I am blessed to be used as God’s servant in teaching not only the academic subjects to the intermediate class, but also the Word of God as the foundation for all of life.
